Pedaling, it digs! After a morning exploring Vittel, its huge spa park and surrounding villages, it’s time to reward our efforts with a good meal. And there’s nothing better than a visit to COF, a cheerful and healthy “bistro”.

A warm, woodsy ambience

A large glass frontage awaits us as we turn a corner. A terrace, with plaids for the more chilly, invites us to sit down. Between our reflections, we can make out the motto “joyeux bistro pour boire & manger”. As we’ve arrived early, we move inside to enjoy the COF’s calm, woodsy ambience.

Inside, it’s not only a “bistro” that awaits us, but also a delicatessen. Coffees, teas, infusions, groceries… It’s a whole world of organic products, local or not, that offers itself to our eyes and taste buds. While we consult the menu to find out which sweetness we’ll succumb to, we think about taking some sugared almonds to nibble on and a packet of ground coffee to make ourselves a snack tomorrow or later.

A menu to suit all tastes

Gradually, the bistro fills up. Other tourists, but also workers, and even young people, take their seats or come to pick up their orders. For our part, we chose to share a finger food platter. Monsieur has opted for a “Big COF Double Steak” burger, while I’m tempted by large spinach ricotta ravioli. To accompany our dishes, we decide on a Campari Spritz for me, and an Ipanema for my other half.

While we’ve come as lovers, families, curists and gangs also gather in this place that exudes good humor and benevolence. We’re even seeing the arrival of auto-entrepreneurs and workers who’ll be staying on to co-work.

A treat for the taste buds and the eyes

Good fun guaranteed!

Our steaming dishes arrive. We make a friendly exchange: half a ravioli (which are really big) for a piece of burger. I still feel I’ve been had, but it’ll be an occasion to come back. We then indulge in a dessert to share: the cookie. Soft at the core, crunchy around the edges, with chocolate chips that are almost bubbly because they’re so good, we indulge in this latest treat. Even though it doesn’t last long, we savored it to the end, and didn’t leave a crumb. Completely relaxed and full, we leave the COF in a contagious good mood.

A Zen-like afternoon

The merry bistro is a cheerful travel companion, delighting all and sundry, whether drinking or eating. For the duration of a meal, we joined the gang, for a relaxing break full of good humor.

We have a choice of a short digestive stroll through the spa park and the discovery of its heritage gems, its golf courses, its equestrian center … or the Forêt Parc, that magical and unusual place.
