A green oasis

Two hours to explore Vittel’s heritage

For your first taste of Vittel, start with a stroll through the spa park, a lush green space open to the public. Owned by Nestlé Waters, this private park is home to an exceptional heritage linked to the town’s history of spa treatments and sport.

As you stroll through the park, admire the remarkable buildings that bear witness to the golden age of spa tourism, such as the racecourse and its grandstand dating from 1904, the lawn tennis pavilion from 1911, the PMU chalet dating from 1923, the Institute of Physical Education from 1926, and the weighing pavilion from 1935.

Continue your exploration with Vittel’s remarkable religious buildings, notably the churches of Grand Ban Saint-Rémy and Petit Ban Saint-Privat, both of which are listed buildings.

This architectural, historical and sporting heritage now forms part of Vittel’s protected heritage, designated as Historic Monuments.

A symbol of Vittel’s heritage

The Grande Galerie Thermale

A true symbol of Vittel’s spa culture, the Grande Galerie Thermale bears witness to the history and influence of the spa town. Listed on the supplementary register of Historic Monuments, it is now the focus of special attention aimed at preserving and promoting this exceptional architectural heritage.

Built in 1856 on the initiative of Louis Bouloumié, founder of the Vittel spa resort, the gallery has undergone several architectural alterations over the years. Its current grand structure was built in several stages between 1897 and 1905, with the involvement of the architect Charles Garnier.

Connecting the spa buildings, their annexes and the spa grounds, this metal gallery quickly became an iconic feature of Vittel. Refurbished in the 1930s with the cladding of its framework and pillars, it remains today a major testament to the golden age of spa tourism.
