Designated tourist resort

A guarantee of excellence in tourism

What is the ‘Classified Tourist Resort’ label? It is a rigorous standard.

Awarded by decree, a tourist resort’s classification is valid for 12 years and requires compliance with around fifty criteria:

  • tourist accommodation of various types and categories,
  • cultural events and activities,
  • physical and sporting activities,
  • professional expertise,
  • local shops and appropriate healthcare facilities,
  • a local urban development plan,
  • a sewerage zoning plan,
  • initiatives relating to the environment, the enhancement of the local environment, the conservation of sites and monuments, public health and waste management,
  • multilingual tourist information on tourist activities and attractions,
  • transport infrastructure,
  • maintenance and safety of facilities,
  • signage for its Tourist Office and its main tourist attractions.
