At Vittel you can discover some sublime places in the saddle. For my first outing on horseback (and with a little apprehension), I choose a ride under Amandine’s guidance. After an essential phase of preparing the horse, where I get to know Orion, my mount for the day, I learn the techniques of brushing and hoof-cleaning… Then it’s off, I put the saddle on him, tighten his girth, Orion, impassive, lets himself be done, which is reassuring for me!

When I take him into the riding arena to do a few laps around the track, his step is slow and rhythmic. My mount is used to it, and I’m really enjoying it.

All about the riding school

The equestrian center is:

A stable with 30 boxes
A spacious Club House overlooking the 40mx20m riding arena
Three covered riding arenas: 1 riding arena 70m x 30m, 1 riding arena 40m x 20m, 1 Baby Pony arena 20m x 15m
Two Toubin Clément riding arenas: 1 riding arena 100m x 50m, 1 riding arena 70m x 50m

Vittel Rond Pré Équitation, affiliated with the Fédération Française d’Équitation, welcomes you all year round to discover the practice of horse riding for leisure or in competition, under the cover of a state-qualified teacher.

A history of allure

The different ways in which horses move are called gaits. All horses naturally have three gaits: walk, trot and canter.

The horse naturally jumps over obstacles, and sometimes jumps on the spot. He knows how to rear up and buck, movements that generally indicate a desire to attack or defend. Don’t worry, we’ll just walk or trot along for the ride!

Walking the surrounding trails

After a few reassuring turns on my ultimately docile mount, the host suggested that we and the other riders of the day start the ride. And off we go! We leave the riding school and head for the racecourse, taking to the surrounding paths, ideal for gentle moments in the shade… then, starting a gentle trot, we let ourselves be guided by our mounts accustomed to these paths.

Suddenly, Orion stops to graze a patch of fresh grass, and off he goes again!

We all gain confidence and don’t see the time passing… it’s with amazement, as we approach the equestrian center that we realize time has flown by.

A little beauty for my horse

Now it’s time to give Orion and his fellow equines a makeover! A quick grooming session before taking them back to their respective stalls. Last caresses for them, it was a superb experience!

In the heart of Vittel’s natural surroundings, this little horseback ride offered us some fabulous moments. But Vittel has plenty of other surprises in store to help you reconnect with yourself.
